6th Annual Hope from Helen Surf Silent Auction: Friday, December 6th, 6:30-9:30 pm

On Friday, December 3, 2010 join the local community for an amazing night of fun, food, music, and friends – all to support charity. The 6th Annual Hope from Helen Surf Silent Auction will take place from 6:30-9:30pm at the Blockade Runner Beach Resort in Wrightsville Beach and is sponsored by WBLivesurf.com and the Board Retailers Association. Admission is free.

WB Surf Camp is auctioning a week of our 11+ Surf Camp and a Surftech Blacktip surfboard package. Other action items include autographed surfboards, local art, framed photographs, jewelry, vacation packages, skateboards, snowboards, shoes, bicycles, spa packages, shopping sprees at area retailers, and many more amazing items. In addition, there will be a raffle with prizes given away throughout the night. Tower 7 Restaurant will provide food and local musicians, Bag of Toys, and Billy and Brian of ‘Shine, will perform live music for the event.

Hope from Helen (HFH) is a 501(c) 3, non-profit charity that supports local and global charities dedicated to health, education, the environment, animal welfare, and individuals and families in need. HFH was started in 2005 in honor of Helen Butler, who fought a courageous battle against lung and breast cancer.  Helen was the mother of Sweetwater Surf Shop managing partner and WBLivesurf.com owner, Tony Butler.

In the last few years, nearly $250,712 has been raised for different charities. Past recipients include the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), American Cancer Society, Lower Cape Fear Hospice, Sea Biscuit Wildlife Shelter, PAWS Place, Southport Oak Island Animal Rescue, New Hanover Humane Society, Karen Beasley Sea Turtle Hospital, Wrightsville Beach Sea Turtle Project, Life Rolls On, Adopt an Angel, Surfers Healing, Surfrider Foundation, Pink Ribbon Project and many others.  In addition, the memorial fund will provide support for local families with serious and terminal illnesses.

Anyone interested in donating items for the auction may drop them off at Sweetwater Surf Shop at 10 N. Lumina Ave, Wrightsville Beach.  All donations are tax deductible.
