Steve Addison
Certified Surf Instructor

Steve has been hooked on surfing for over 10 years, since the very first time he successfully stood up and rode a wave. Even now, he finds he can’t think about surfing without reliving the feeling he had that first day.

Steve understands the importance of support when learning to surf and wants to provide a similar environment with strong feedback and open communication with his clients.

Originally from Corona Del Mar in Orange County, CA, Steve attended
California Polytechnic State University, and graduated with a B.S. Industrial Technology. After graduation, Steve worked in manufacturing and homebuilding, but he soon began to find his work unsatisfying. In 2007, Steve made a move to the east coast to pursue his dream of teaching. He is currently a substitute teacher in New Hanover County middle and high schools and is enrolled in the CT3 teaching licensure program at UNCW. He will be a fully certified teacher in Fall 2010 with his student teaching completed in Spring 2011. Steve believes strongly in his students and his mission is to provide a strong curriculum with real world application. Steve continues to learn from his students as a substitute and is focused and excited about pursuing his dream.

After starting out on a longboard, Steve worked down to shortboarding and currently rides a 6'4 Placebo shortboard. Beyond surfing, Steve likes to read, write, and go to the gym. Areas of interest are product design and writing op-eds. He likes watching CNN and Fox news and enjoys local and national politics. Other sports include volleyball, judo, and soccer.  Steve listens to Stone Temple Pilots, Tool, Bruce Cockburn, and a variety of pop music. Yes, pop music.
