Molly Hadley
Certified Surf Instructor
Molly grew up next to the snowy Rock Mountains of Colorado. She picked up skiing and snowboarding at age three and has continued to practice both, casually and in competition. Molly grew up going to the beach only once a year for a week or two. So how does someone living hundreds of miles from the beach become a surfer? Molly was hooked after a trip to Surf Camp in Costa Rica. Since then, desire to spend more time surfing has led her away from the fresh mountain air each year to live for short periods near the ocean.
Her first coastal adventure was at age 19, when she drove west over the summer to work beside the beach in San Diego, surfing whenever she got a break from work. When school started back up that fall she headed home to study sports medicine, all the while planning and dreaming about her next surfing adventure. The following summer, she took a bigger step and moved to Australia for six months, where she lived amongst Tasmanian Devils, studies exercise science at the University of Tasmania, and participated in the sport this culture lives by.
Summer 2008 was now fast approaching, and memories of smelling salty beach air and feeling soft, warm breezes were fresh on Molly’s mind. But this time she wanted to evolve her love of surfing into something she could share. Teaching kids her favorite sport sounded more rewarding than any other summer job she could imagine. And so Molly determined to become a surf camp counselor, like the great people who got her started years ago in Costa Rica.
