Surf Camp Team
Daniel Cantu
Certified Surf Instructor
Daniel taught himself how to surf at the ripe age of 17. He caught his first wave on a beat-up long board found in a marsh near his home. Although his boards have changed, the feeling he gets while surfing has not: every wave he catches is like experiencing that first wave all over again.
Daniel understands the positive effects that surfing can have on a person’s life. He believes it is confidence building and character developing, which is why he teaches others to surf whenever he has the opportunity.
Daniel originates from Jacksonville, NC, but has spent most of his time in Chapel Hill, studying environmental science, political science and philosophy. In his spare time, he swims competitively, bikes, snowboards, and of course, surfs.
