Carolina Beach NC - Surfing Lessons - SUP Lessons

Surfing Lessons - Surf Lesson - Learn to Surf - Carolina Beach NC

Carolina Beach, North Carolina is just one of the many pristine beaches of Southeastern North Carolina, which is ranked among the top 12 vacation spots in North America.  The clear warm water summertime averages in the low 80’s, making it an ideal location in which to learn the sport of surfing and Stand Up Paddle Surfing though our world renown Carolina Surf School!

Just a 30 minute drive from downtown Wilmington will bring you into the heart of Carolina Beach, NC.  It is surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean to the east, the Cape Fear River to the west, and to get to the mainland you must pass over Snow’s Cut bridge.  This narrow strip of land is often referred to as Pleasure Island, North Carolina.

As you drive north on the island, you’ll run out of paved road before you get to the tip of the island.  If you have a four-wheel drive vehicle (and a full tank of gas!), for a small fee you can drive out onto the beach.  This is the only beach in the area where this is permitted.  At the very tip of the island and wrapping back around toward the inlet, you’ll find a great spot to shore fish.  Get there early and claim your spot because this is a very popular fishing hole.  Camping and small camp fires are permitted on a section of the north end.

The main business district is centered around an active yacht basin containing numerous charter fishing boats and pleasure cruises.  If you’re seaworthy, book a day on a deep-sea fishing boat and in just a few hours out you’ll be fishing in the warm Gulf Stream and hooking a mahi-mahi or a strawberry grouper!  If you’d prefer to fish while standing still, visit the Carolina Beach Fishing Pier near the north end of the island.  This 700-foot long pier features a grill, snack bar, game room, lounge ad a tackle shop complete rentals and bait.

This busy little town has everything you need including a movie complex, grocery stores, drugstores, beach shops, boutiques, restaurants, and bait shops.  Stroll along the boardwalk and window shop by day or check out the nightlife here.  A trip to Carolina Beach, North Carolina would not be complete without stopping by Britt’s Donut Shop to see what all the locals are raving about.

Carolina Beach also offers one of the few state parks in the region. For a small fee, you can camp and enjoy the wonders of coastal nature, including the Venus flytrap, a carnivorous plant that eats insects.  The park also features a marina and miles of hiking trails.
